Loved this TV until it started malfunctioning and finally quit working just after the warranty expired. We purchased the the extended warranty from Best Buy and they came out once but couldn't recreate the problem. When it finally quit, it was just two weeks after the extended Best Buy warranty expired. The set is now defunct, spent $199 so far for a local technician to tell us it may be able to be repaired for a minimum of $500. Toshiba and Best Buy refused to do anything to help even though we had reported the problem during the warranty period.

Loved this TV until it broke just after the warranty expired. Made a mistake and purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy which ran concurrent with the factory warranty so I was shorted a year of warranty. Had I purchased the Toshiba factory warranty after getting home, the set would still be under warranty. The set is now defunct, spent $350 thus far to repair vertical problem and now technician claims he can't find a needed tube for additional cost. Probably will trash the set.

Had no problems with this unit until i HAD a problem.I bought mine 1/16/02 & have been pleased with the performance till early in December when the screen went black and liquid started spilling out the bottom !!!! It has been setting in my living room for 6 weeks now ( black screen, liquid dripping etc).
Atechnician came by about a month ago, charged me $63 & said he could fix it but could not warranty his work.
Long story short; I've been getting the runaround for over a month now since it became apparent that the unit needs to be replaced. Looks like i'll have to rely on small claims court to get Toshiba to honor the warranty. BEWARE

This is my first time owing a big screen tv the quality is real good i play video games on it (i do not reccomend to do it.it can cause static burn on screen)watching dvd movies on there is real great the sound is great too.Over all i think its great.

DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can't match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time--no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It's the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.

The technology at the of the 62HM95 is the new Toshiba Digital Light Engine named Talen X, which utilizes Texas Instruments' xHD4 chip, advanced optics, and Toshiba's DEEP Picture and Xtreme BLAC technologies to provide high resolution with improved brightness and contrast. It also includes the new PixelPure AT Digital Video Processing, utilizing new Adaptive Technology to create further improved picture quality, the new Radiance 150 Hi-Bright Lamp for noticeably brighter images and a TheaterFine DFP Screen with anti-glare coating that results in increased detail and noticeably deeper blacks.

A 3D Y/C comb filter (4 MB, 10-bit with Vertical Contour Correction) further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). The CableClear feature utilizes the Digital 3D/YC Comb Filter to compare frames and determine the existence and extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video inputs, and can be selected by input.

The HD Dynamic Contrast feature increases contrast and color saturation to create deep, rich images. The intelligent circuitry analyzes both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizes the dynamic range in each area of the picture. Toshiba's PixelPure AT (Adaptive Technology) includes Motion Adaptive De-Interlacing, Adaptive MPEG Processing, Adaptive Contrast Enhancement, and Adaptive Color Enhancement--all critical elements to deliver a consistently high quality picture.

With the integrated ATSC tuner, you'll be able to receive off-air high definition broadcasts without the need for an external set-top box. It also features a digital cable tuner (QAM), which allows for the reception of digital cable signals that are not scrambled. It also incorporates a CableCard slot for optional card, which can pick up HD (ATSC) broadcasts from your digital cable provider (digital cable subscription required). The integrated TV Guide on-screen guide provides an easy to read listing of the television programs available to view or record. It includes an 8-day program listing, the ability to perform keyword searches for locating favorite programs, and the G-Link IR Blaster for controlling cable boxes.

The speakers provide a total of 20 watts of power (20 watts per channel). The SRS WOW virtual surround sound system provides amazing, enveloping sound through just the two built-in speakers. It also provides MTS stereo/SAP with dbx. The StableSound feature eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.

In addition, it includes a JPEG Viewer program that allows the TV to display pictures from most digital cameras, which can be rotated and viewed in an automatic presentation format. The TheaterNet Control System simplifies the control of external components through both an IR jack and Firewire (IEEE1394) port, the latter of which can be used to transmit digital video and audio and allow for recording of HDTV.

Convenience features include color temperature control, closed captioning on mute, sleep timer, tri-lingual on-screen display, V-Chip parental controls, video input labelling, channel labeling, and Toshiba's GameTimer feature, which allows parents to set the television to shut off after a specified period of time and stay off until a lockout key code is entered.

Bad product. My DLP lamp died in <1000 hrs of viewing. Now that I've replaced it, the TV cycles through on-off cycles many times - get to watch the TV only if you're lucky! Not worth it!

"TV NOT WORTH CONTINUED INVESTMENT" 2007-07-05

We are extremely disappointed in this T.V. We've had it for a year and a half and have already replaced the lamp twice. Once it was under warranty, but this time we had to shell out the money out of our own pockets, and the lamps are not cheap. We found a "deal" for the lamp and "only" had to pay 180 dollars for it. Toshiba states that the lamp should last an average of 8000 hours, both times we were at about 1200-1500 hours of viewing. Wrote a letter to Toshiba with no response. Buyers beware, this T.V.requires a continued investment.

"Horrible Quality, Not 1080p, Do Not Buy!!!" 2006-12-07

Am am a electronics junkie who is well informed of the latest and greatest however this is not a 1080p TV like they say it is! Toshiba is lying to get stupid people like me to believe them. Thought is was a great deal to get a 1080p for about 2000 less than the bigger names. Should have listened to my instincts. 1080p DLP HDTV is the name of the "engine" used to make the pictures but has absolutely nothing to do with actual picture quality. It only will ACCEPT and DISPLAY 10801!!!!!! The quality is also horrible. At 480 or 720 resolution (both p and i) you cannot even see the faces of basketball players. 1080i is ok but you will have to stand 20+ (Manufacturers suggestion is 10-25) feet back to even get a decent picture. . We replaced a pioneer HDTV from 3 years ago, no HDMI, 1080i is the best it can do, and it is by far better than this one. I REPEAT, DO NOT THIS PRODUCT IT IS NOT 1080p! HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are already here so if you buy this tv you are screwed for the next few years. If only I had found these reviews earlier I would have saved over 3000!

"Good TV, bad marketing" 2006-11-04

I bought this TV in Dec '05 and have enjoyed its picture quality very much. It does suffer, like most TVs in this design, from the fuzzies during scenes of fire, rain, lightning, etc. Other than that, the picture quality is excellent. The speaks are ok if you've never owned a receiver before, but I'm pretty sure my factory car radio sounds better.

My only two real complaints about this TV are the size auto adjustments and the false (or at least hidden) advertisements in 1080p. First, get ready for a fun ride if you have multiple sources (or just HD vs non-HD programming) at varying source resolution. Switching between channels of HD/non-HD causes the TV to blank out for a bit while it tries to reset itself to the correct format. I've also enjoyed (not) watching it go from full screen to standard size (4:3) after I've tried to tell it to stay in widescreen.

Second, as another reviewer stated, this TV only accepts up to 1080i input. I feel very cheated on this. Reason? Xbox 360 recently (11/1) updated to support 1080p output. Does this TV work in that mode? NO! Is there a real picture quality difference? Beats me because I'll never know on this TV. To advertise a TV as a 1080p, but then to find out (on Google no less - Toshiba's site itself is nothing but marketing bull) that it can only do magic on 1080i inputs to make them 1080p output sickens me.

So to wrap it up, this is an excellent TV from my experience overall. I did find on Toshiba's website that there's a known bulb issue and they will extend your warranty on the bulb for an extra year if your s/n is in the range.

"Stay away from Samsung products" 2009-10-02

Before buying any Samsung products, Google for Samsung DLP or LCD TV problems. You will be shocked. I have exact same problem, power-off after 3years' usage and paying $3,300 on 61" DLP TV. What did I do? Through Google help, I installed the power conditioner ($300.00) and little fan ($7.00) with my finger crossing. So far so good.

But, my friend bought 56" same model as mine about the same time. He spent $600 to repair power-off problem replacing some board whatever because my ad-hoc repair didn't work for him.

Don't be suckers for Samsung.

PS. As a Korean-American, I feel shame with this terrible Korean company.

"Stay away from Samsung DLP's!!!" 2009-09-10

After much research (about a year) we finally decided to purchase a 61" Samsung DLP for $4,500 delivered. While we were thrilled for the first year, just shortly after that, the bulb went. Okay, no problem as this is typical, BUT just 10 months later, I shut her off for the evening and she has been dead ever since. It's been months now, and we are being told to just replace it as parts needed are too expensive and labor is astronomical. WHAT??? You mean we've used this TV all of 2-2.5 years and it's obsolete? I didn't even spend half the original purchase price on our daughter's first car. Samsung knows that there are problems with these TV's, and they do not stand behind their product. Anyone know what I can do w/this huge TV I have still in place like a ghost who taunts me??? We tried replacing the bulb again--Nope! We tried replacing the ballust--Nope! Now, we're too gun shy to purchase again!

I purchased a Samsung television about eighteen months ago. Two weeks ago the picture became all distorted. Since my television warranty was through Circuit City I had no choice but to call a television repair person out to look at it. As soon as he walked in the door he knew what the issue was. He told me that the part would cost almost as much as the television and that his recommendation was to throw away the television and purchase another one. After doing some research I discovered that there were quite a few Samsung televisions that were going out and that the parts were on backorder for about a month. Samsung was also not helpful. I trying to discuss this with SamsungTweets on Twitter, but he blocked me when I asked why nobody called me like he said they would. The only other answer I got from Samsung was that I needed to take it to a service ; this is after I told them that a television repair person had looked at it. From what I can tell from looking on television repair forums, Samsung televisions look to be pretty flakey.

I have to agree with Robin. Thousands of outraged Samsung DLP owners have come to seriously regret ever buying one. Samsung DLPs appear to have some major design flaws. The most common symptoms we encounter after 1-2 years are:

1) Set contiuously turns itself off

2) White or green dots begin appearing across screen

3) Ghosting, lines, or afterimages on screen (event though DLPs do not suffer burn-in)

#1 is typically caused by degradation of the lamp, lamp ballast, and colorwheel as they break-in together. When the lamp starts to go (all lamps have a limited life-span) it can indirectly cause a cascade failure in the sensors of the other two components. Sometimes, the ballast and colorwheel check out on the o-scope and meter, but they register a new lamp as a fault. Either way, all 3 components usually have to be replaced at about $400 in parts. #2 & #3 require even costlier repairs.

I usually advise folks (who don't have a Svc Plan) not to waste their money trying to repair it; just bite the bullet and go purchase a more reliable brand. They really don't like hearing that, but it's just not cost-effective for them to repair something for half the purchase price of a better comparable set.

You don't have to take my word for it. Try Googling "Samsung DLP problems" or "Samsung DLP turns off" and see for yourself.

Samsung still uses the same basic design.

I didn't get much out of this DVD. After going completely through the instructions on the video and making the recommended adjustments, I didn't notice any improvement. To give Monster the benefit of the doubt, maybe I had it pretty close when I started. I feel like I wasted my money.

I bought this hoping to get the best color out of my set up, but upon running the calibration wizard, I found that the settings I had chosen myself were actually the same as the wizard recommended...

So I guess if you are really new to HDTV color and such, the wizard may get you close to where you want to be. I consider myself to be a novice/enthusiast, with what seems to be a good eye for color, according to Jenna Drey anyway:)

This disk was the worst spent 30$ of my life. It really did nothing other then make me have to go back and reset my settings after the video was over.

Just like everything else monster sales, it is way overpriced, and very poor quality.

i can't believe they actually produced this video. It should be one of the dvds they hand out at the counter for free, when you purchase something at a store. It isn't worth 5$.

The only way I can see this helping anyone, is if you haven't ever owned a tv before in your life. If you have absolutely no idea what so ever the settings on your tv do, then this might help you.

If you have ever adjusted the picture settings by yourself before, do not buy this dvd.

I would be very embarrassed to either sale, or create a product this poor. I am going to make a post on the polk forums to see if anyone wants it for free, and I will send it to them so they can laugh at me for buying it.

Da-Lite 27531 A Da-Lite Polacoat rear projection screen consists of a specially formulated optical coating, designed to provide the highest resolution and most accurate color fidelity. This coating is deposited on a transparent glass (Da-Glas) or acrylic (Da-Plex) substrate. Da-Lite utilizes a special coating process which chemically bonds the optical layer to the substrate, creating a very high degree of adhesion guaranteed not to peel or strip off. Base Factory Installed Frame: -Mitered corners eliminate rear light leaks without caulking -Black anodized finish. Constructed of lightweight extruded aluminum U-channel -Frame insert size equals screen viewing area plus 2-1/2"

The RPM is a precision made, aluminum extrusion based rear projection system custom engineered to meet the exacting requirements of today's digital projectors. The RPM is standard with a fine-tuning projector mount cradle, which provides a host of alignment adjustments and features a mirror mounted by a three-point suspension system to ensure superior stability and flatness. The Perfect Mirror Adjustment Systems is a standard feature on all mirror systems for 42" x 60" and smaller mirrors.

I bought this stand for my new Samsung 67" DLP. It is a beautiful and well made piece of furniture and my TV fits perfectly on it. I put it together myself (with a little coaching from my husband)in a couple of hours. I also bought a 5.1 surround sound system for my TV. All components including Playstation 3 fit very nicely except one thing. This stand has a support that prevents you from placing the speaker in the middle. I had to put it off to the side on the bottom shelf. My speaker is quite large but a smaller one could be placed on an available stand that fits on top of the TV. This can be found on line at[...]A good product if you don't mind your speaker being off to the side.

We were very excited when this TV Stand came so that we could set up our new TV on it. However, the box arrived damaged, damaging the top piece. We called the number for replacements parts and we thought, great, we'll build it in about a week. After a week, or so, I called again saying I had not gotten the item. They apologized and said they'd order it again. Finally, I called a 3rd time and begged to talk to a manager who transferred me to the actual parts depot. I begged to get a tracking number and was told it wasn't possible. I asked that I be contacted when the part shipped, and was told i would. But i never got contacted. We finally built the stand with the damaged part and received a new part 3 days later. We're wondering which of the 3 I asked for this one is! Either way, we'd never order from this manufacturer again.

As a TV stand, it works fine, and it was relatively easy to build.

This mount does not allow for installation heights between 4 inches to 2 feet as advertised.

There's a mistake in the poorly written instructions, the correct installation heights are either flush mount @ 4.2 inches, OR when using the extension rod, a range between 16.1 to 24.4 inches, NOT seamlessly between 4" - 24" as the product info states.

This is the second mount that I purchase from Amazon with incorrect description...

Amazon, get it right!!!
